Art Touch Performance
Art can’t be touched — but it can very much touch us, and leave an imprint.
I asked all participants to choose any art object in the gallery that spoke to them and then asked to connect with it. I gave them some time to be together, then asked to write down their feeling right now, and photographed them in a multiple exposure technique, combining the art object, the viewer and the written feeling into one frame.
For me, this is a performance about intimacy achieved layer by layer, a method of contact and the pause that is necessary for this contact. Contact with the object of art, with themselves in contact with the object of art, and with me initiating this contact.
Multi-exposure suits to capture all these processes simultaneously in the best possible way.
The performance was held at J/M Gallery on 21 July 2024 as part of the Seven For A Secret exhibition I was participating in, and uses the work of the artists exhibiting there.
Participants are visitors to the gallery that day, the artists whose work is exhibited there, their friends and relatives.
